What I Offer

The Power 30 session is designed to provide you with a quality headshot inside of 30 minutes. You arrive ready to shoot or we have a dressing room available to change in. We are only shooting mid torso up so no need to be concerned about the look of your pants, skirt, etc.

Women should arrive hair and make-up ready. You are allocated only 30 minutes of studio time so any time you use to apply make-up or fuss with hair limits your opportunity in front of the camera. Men are typically ready to go but should take a minute to check the mirror before coming on set.

Part of my process is to edit the session with you as we go. You and I will inspect each shot one by one to determine its potential use or not. When we are done I will have shot 80 to 100 images and as we narrow them down you will be left with 10 or so that you have approved as potential candidates to use. By shooting and editing in this manner we can adjust the focus of the shots during the session to account for anything that you feel we may have missed. You’ll know exactly what you will be working with when you walk out of my studio because we have gone through the entire session together and approved each image during this process.

As we begin the photo session I will assess your look, best side, best angle; my goal is to make you feel at home in front of the camera so we capture your natural self. I like to shoot my headshots in a horizontal format but if you feel you need vertical shots or 3/4 shots during your session just let me know and I’d be happy to frame the images accordingly for you.

The approved shots will be made available on your own password protected proofing website. Shots are usually posted within 24 hours of your session. You will be able to give the pass code to friends, family, agents or anyone else who might help you choose the shots you decide to use. Keep in mind that at this stage these are straight from the camera and not retouched. Sharing these initial images through social media via the links you’ll see next to each image in your gallery is not suggested.

The Power 30 package includes one fully edited and lightly retouched digital image. Additional retouched digital images are available at reasonable cost.

My Pro Headshot session is designed to provide you with the very best studio headshot experience. This session will last up to two hours and I will shoot a minimum of four looks. Shooting a range of looks in this way will allow you to have multiple shots available for different marketing purposes. I don’t put a strict limit on the number of shots I take per look, and generally shoot each look until I feel we’ve got it covered. I like to shoot my headshots in a horizontal format but if you feel you need vertical shots or 3/4 shots during your session just let me know and I’d be happy to frame the images accordingly for you.

As this session is intended to cover a range of looks wardrobe selection is important. Both men and women should bring at least four wardrobe changes ranging from all business to comfortable casual. I shoot from mid torso up so pants and skirts are not a consideration. Women should arrive with their hair styled as they would normally wear it day to day. Women should strongly consider hiring one of our make up artists for the duration of the shoot. More info is available below.

When we are done I’ve usually shot anywhere between 100 and 200 images during my full session and you’ll end up with somewhere between 50-75 final shots that you have approved as potential candidates to use. The Corporate Headshot package is designed for companies with multiple employees with the goal of maintaining a consistent brand image. All shots are taken with similar lighting arrangements and the same background color, usually white. We do maintain ongoing relationships with clientele requiring this service. If you would like to set up a discounted rate for contracting Steve to handle the headshot needs of you company we would be happy to discuss that with you. There are three session packages available, each includes one edited and lightly retouched image per client.

Option 1:

Our corporate clients send their team members directly to the Naples studio to be photographed. Appointments are made at each client’s convenience and Steve will spend up to an hour with them during the session. He uses this time to photograph and edit all the images down to a select number of chosen images that both Steve and his client have approved. Discarding all unwanted images allows us to ensure that each individual is pleased with the outcome of their session. The final chosen images are then uploaded to our online proofing gallery for viewing purposes as well as ordering any retouching or printing services. For women who would like to have their hair/makeup done prior to the shoot we do have ongoing relationships with stylists for these services.

Option 2:

This option is for up to six clients to come into the studio for a half day. The session is approximately 4 1/2 hours and based on 45 minutes with each client. Steve uses this time to photograph and edit all the images down to a select number of chosen images that both he and his client have approved. Discarding all unwanted images allows us to ensure that each individual is pleased with the outcome of their session. The final chosen images are then uploaded to our online proofing gallery for viewing purposes as well as ordering any retouching or printing services. Makeup pricing for a half day is available and dependent upon the number of men and women shooting. Should you need to add extra people to this option it would be based on the rate found on our pricing sheet.

Option 3:

This option is for up to twelve clients to come into the studio for a full day. The session is approximately 8 hours and based on 45 minutes with each client. Steve uses this time to photograph and edit all the images down to a select number of chosen images that both he and his client have approved. Discarding all unwanted images allows us to ensure that each individual is pleased with the outcome of their session. Planning For Your Headshot Session

Wardrobe

Choose your clothing wisely. Select colors that complement your eye color and skin tone. Muted colors work well, as do bright colors but stay away from busy prints or distracting patterns. Colored shirts work well for men and women. Depending on the message you want your headshot to convey you could opt for a t-shirt or v-neck. I suggest avoiding sleeveless shirts if you have concerns about your shoulders or upper arms, otherwise tanks and straps can work very well. Layers work really well so experiment with shirts and sweaters, or tanks and shirts. We are shooting from waist up so feel free to wear comfortable pants or skirt as they won’t be in the shot. Shoes should be comfortable and complimentary to good posture. I will be shifting your weight from one foot to the other and back so this is not the time to wear the brand new pumps. Accessories are fine but beware that the necklace and earrings don’t create a distraction.

If your headshot will be used in a corporate setting it is a good idea to meet with your team leader for suggestions as to wardrobe. Corporate colors or other branding elements may be important to your company. Otherwise, consider your personal brand and the message you want to convey to your audience.

Both the Power 30 and Corporate Headshot allow only one outfit. You should arrive ready to go in whatever clothing you have decided portrays you at your best. We have a nice dressing room if you do need to change into your shoot outfit. If you have booked a Corporate Headshot there may be time for one wardrobe change so feel free to bring a second look just in case.

For the Pro Headshot session I allow a minimum of four looks. Please bring as many as 8 to 10 outfits. While we discuss the session progress I will assist you in selecting what experience tells me will work best for you. People always ask me what colors are best and I really don’t have an answer for that. It’s better for me to get a visual of something, so I suggest bringing a wide variety of colors. Don’t be seasonal; everything from t-shirts, tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work. I love textures and layers, but would generally stay away from crazy patterns.

If it’s not in the studio we can’t shoot it, so if you find yourself questioning whether or not something will work just bring it along. I also suggest having some fun with this, if you feel your wardrobe is missing something then go shopping and we’ll keep the tags on it and you can return the items you don’t want to keep after the shoot. I have a steamer, so don’t worry about wrinkles, we’ll be able to easily sort them out! If you don’t absolutely love the way you look in a certain outfit please don’t bring it. If you are uncomfortable in your clothing it will show in camera.

Hair & Make Up

Good hair and makeup is crucial to a quality headshot. Men should get a haircut several days before the shoot. If a guy can put together a good scruff leave it on. We’ll shoot a bit then you can shave and come away with two distinct looks. Women, we’re shooting close up here so pay close attention to hairstyle and makeup application. For the Power 30 and Corporate Headshot arrive at the studio made up and ready to go. You can take a little time to touch up when you get to the studio. Hair should be styled as you typically wear it day to day. Think natural, soft and muted when putting on your look.

The Pro Headshot session demands professional hair and makeup. I have retained an exceptional team of makeup artists and hair stylists. The cost is reasonable and the service highly recommended. Prices vary depending on your requirements and can be found on the pricing page. I shoot close in so a little hair and makeup magic can go a long way.

Guests

Due to the nature of the photo shoot guests are not allowed in the studio while I am shooting. I need your full and undivided attention. Your guests are welcome to assist you in preparing for your headshot. We have a very comfortable lobby for any guests to wait in while you are in session. If the client is under the age of 18 a parent/guardian is required to be in the studio at all times.

My Equipment

I take my work very seriously and therefore I like to use the best equipment available. From camera to lighting all my gear is top notch and state of the art. Rest assured that no matter what outcome a client wants I and my equipment can deliver it. Whatever I choose to use during your session rest assured that it’s the right gear to get the job done.
